Rejoice evermore. Pray without ceasing. In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you. 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18
I don’t think many people think of “fun” and “prayer” together. Listening to a sermon recently, putting these two words together struck a chord. Prayer IS fun!
We think playing a virtual reality game and watching movies is fun. We would think sitting down with Elon Musk would be thrilling. Getting the attention, even for a moment, of a star or musician we like brings some of us to tears. Being followed and liked online by a well-known influencer gives our hearts a flutter.
How about having a private meeting with the most powerful Man in the universe and having His undivided attention?
It is incredible what we, as Christians, have access to. We have direct access to God because Christ has torn the veil that separated us from Him. Christ paid our VIP admission to the throne room with His blood. When we ask God to forgive our sins and receive Jesus as our Lord and Savior, we receive this expensive VIP ticket and access to heaven and God.
Taking advantage of this fantastic superpower we’ve been given is easy and fun. Here are some fun ways to kick off your day with prayer time. These can be done in bed, getting ready, driving, sitting quietly, standing in line, or any other time in your morning.
- Give thanks to God before rolling out of bed
- Praise God for the sunrise
- Give praise to God for the new day that He made
- Thank God for breakfast
- Thank God for coffee
- Thank God & pray over one person
- Pray over each person in your family
- Thank God for the health that you have
- Praise God for the time, talent & tools He has given you
- Lift your day schedule up to God to receive wisdom, adjustment & clarity
The fantastic thing about all of these ways to pray to kick off your day is that they require almost no action except communicating with God. You can pray out loud or in your head. You can pray while in motion.
When you start your day this way, several amazing things happen. One, God hears you and guides you by His spirit regarding these things. Two, you’ve already moved spiritual mountains in the morning before the day has even had a chance to begin. You’ll feel great knowing that some serious spiritual work has been done without lifting a finger.
Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light. Matthew 11:29-30
Picture: Pastor Fednel praising God for the massive cistern that holds water. (We’re pretty sure you can see it from space it’s so large.) His church team uses it to give the people in the village clean drinking water. Onaville is one of the places we have not been able to drill and hit clean water. We’ve tried three times. Water is trucked in, and the cistern is filled. People get fed with the Word of God, as Fednel teaches through the bible verse by verse. They also receive clean drinking water that God provides through our Cross to Light Emergency Relief efforts.
