Port au Prince, Haiti-
One of the greatest blessings of serving at Cross to Light has been meeting the different teams that come and serve, and seeing how the Lord works through each of them to bless the people of Haiti. In July, we had a team from Horizon, Brooklyn, that came to minister to the people.
Throughout the week, there were many activities the group did including medical clinics, VBS, prison ministry, and even building a chicken coop at Pastor Fednel’s church. From providing medical attention to a sick person, putting on a costume for VBS with the kids, or laboring over the chicken coop, each person had a specific task that was equally important and done with a servants heart for the Lord. As they served the people of Haiti throughout the week, they became living epistles of Christ, bringing God’s truth and love to those they encountered.
During the medical clinic, there were a few people that needed medical attention beyond what the team could do as a mobile clinic. Moved with compassion, they sought to help the people find medical treatment. Long after the team left, the devotion to the people continued as one of the ladies on the team continue to inquire about and lift up in prayer those that had needed the additional medical treatment. The people that were ministered to and helped, saw the love of God in action. In 1 John 3:18, we are commanded to love “in deed and in truth”, and as these missionaries came and served the people and went above and beyond what could have been imagined, the selfless love of Christ was embodied and the gospel was lived out. All praise to the Lord!
“My little children, let us not love in word or in tongue, but in deed and in truth. And by this we know that we are of the truth, and shall assure our hearts before Him.” 1 John 3:18-19 NKJV
