20,000 Pounds of Thanksgiving
“My God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:19
So far this year mission teams from all over the country have brought in more then 20,000 pounds of relief aid supplies for the Bible Training Center and for the people of Haiti. People have brought in bibles, medical supplies, water drilling parts, food, clothing, shoes and a large array of other items. As part of a Cross to Light mission trip we ask teams to bring in one extra checked bag filled with needed supplies. They are given a needs list. Most of the time people bring in items listed that are most needed. Sometimes, the Lord puts on someone’s heart something to bring in that is not on the list.
One example of this was when a team from Canada heard the Lord’s voice tell them to bring in things for a wedding. They brought in wedding dresses, suits and ring sets. Little did they know that one of the students had just led a nearby home church group through a bible study about marriage. This group, having heard about marriage from the bible for the first time, was so convicted that several couples wanted to get married right away! The Canadian team had everything needed to fulfill this new found desire to honor the Lord in marriage.
Other stories include “random” parts that were brought in that just so happened to perfectly fit the mechanical need that we had. Clothes and shoes that were the exact fit for someone in need. Bulk supplies that fulfilled the requirement to be able to go into a prison to share a bible study. Medical supplies that didn’t run out over the course of a medical outreach even though they should have.
We can’t thank the Lord enough or the mission teams that answered the call to bring in supplies for people in need just like Cornelius from the book of Acts did, “a devout man and one who feared God with all his household, who gave alms generously to the people, and prayed to God always.”
