Knowing what your spiritual gifting is and what giftings have been given to others is a key to extraordinary teamwork. Do you know what your spiritual gift is?

Romans 12

I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God. For I say, through the grace given unto me, to every man that is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think; but to think soberly, according as God hath dealt to every man the measure of faith. For as we have many members in one body, and all members have not the same office:

So we, being many, are one body in Christ, and every one members one of another. Having then gifts differing according to the grace that is given to us, whether prophecy, let us prophesy according to the proportion of faith; Or ministry, let us wait on our ministering: or he that teacheth, on teaching; Or he that exhorteth, on exhortation: he that giveth, let him do it with simplicity; he that ruleth, with diligence; he that sheweth mercy, with cheerfulness.

The spiritual gifts God has for each one of us differ and are all meant to work together. They are divided into two categories;

1. Expounding the Word
2. Expanding the work

Expounding the Word

Prophecy
Definition: Declaring Truth, Sharing Sporadically
Example: Evangelism

Ministry
Definition: Depicting Truth. The practical outworking of the truth. Jesus is our example. He would teach then He would touch. Practically helping like Dorcus in Acts chapter 9, who made garments for people.
Example: Discipleship, Small Groups, Service

Teaching
Definition: Defining Truth. Explaining and sharing biblical insights.
Example: In Depth Bible Teaching

Expanding the Work

Giving
Definition: Give with no strings attached. Give generously with simplicity, cheerfully and liberally.
Example: Outreach, Fundraising, Donating

Governance/Exhortation
Definition: Demanding truth, correcting, reminding about biblical truth. Overseeing and administrating. Do with diligence. Practical and pragmatic. Jesus demonstrated this when he put the people in order in groups of 50 before He fed them.
Example: Setting administration in order.

Mercy
Definition: Helping those who are hurting. Give mercy cheerfully.
Example: Helping people in need and victims.

It is important to define your gift, develop it and allow others to have their differing gifts without being contentious. Let the body of Christ function differently but together.

Finally, Romans 12:9 Let love be without dissimulation.

dissimulate[dih-sim-yuh-leyt] verb (used with object), to disguise or conceal under a false appearance; dissemble.

God’s love it the key to getting along and having the different function of the body of Christ work together in unity.
